Operations

The NSW Monitoring and Evaluation Programme NSW component 1.5 deals with the reliability of new, larger offshore wind turbines and their operational aspects (disruptions, failure data, availability and the accessibility of operational aspects).

Learning objectives

  • Provide insight into the operational safety of offshore wind farms, including electrical infrastructure, by supplying information on operational safety, reliability, availability, maintainability and operating costs (including maintenance costs), both for the farm as a whole and at the component level.
  • The ability to reliably forecast the weather (wind, waves, mist) for planning operations (construction, inspection, planned maintenance, damage repair), as well as the ability to design 'fit for purpose' systems and methods for accessibility of offshore wind farms.
