ERC Starting grant training
For whom?
This training is for researchers with 2 to 12 years' experience after obtaining their Ph.D. and who plan to write an application for the ERC Starting grant.
This training is explicitly not for grant consultants or support staff.
Objectives of the training
You will gain insight into how the European Research Council assesses the profile of the most promising young scientists” and “frontier” research.
You learn how to structure and describe your research idea in a clear way.
You will learn how the ERC Starting grant application procedure works.
Training setup
The training takes one day. The training is based to a large extent on practical exercises. You will discuss and thereby gain insight in abstract concepts like “excellent researcher” and “frontier” research. You will learn the rules of the ERC and learn how to apply them to your own situation.
Benefitting from the group’s experience, you will gain insight in how to transform your research idea into a clearly structured research proposal. You will learn to look at your own project proposal through the eyes of an evaluator and learn from the experience of a researcher who went through the process and got the grant. The trainers are experienced with the ERC’s rules and procedures, but please be aware that they cannot guide you in the scientific content of your research. For the training to have maximum effect, we advise to have some idea of a research project that you would like to submit.
This training will be entirely in English.
A maximum of 20 persons can attend the training.
Costs
The costs for this training are 125 euro, including material, lunch and coffee breaks. No VAT will need to be payed.
