Project activities
|
Inception phase:
During an inception mission, the project implementation plan will be
fine-tuned and the relevant organisations will be visited. At the end of the
inception phase, the list of organisations and persons involved in the
project will be finalised.
An assessment of the amount of biowaste
in Macedonia
will be performed.
With the help of a local expert, an assessment on the amount of biowaste
in Macedonia
will be performed. The assessment will serve as input for the discussions
during the workshops and for the preparation of the guidelines. Attention
will be paid to:
- different sectors of society
such as households, restaurants, shops, agriculture, food industry
(slaughterhouse, dairy, bakery et cetera);
- type of waste (food waste,
agricultural waste, animal waste, sludge, et cetera).
Workshop I: general aspects of biowaste
management Three Dutch
experts will travel to Skopje
and organise a two day workshop on biowaste management. All aspects of biowaste
management will be covered. Examples from the Netherlands
and other EU countries will be presented and the situation in Macedonia
will be discussed.
Two more days will be spent on additional meetings. The implementing team
will draft a first version of the handbook based on the findings during this
mission.
Study tour to the Netherlands
5-day tour to the Netherlands
to meet with a number of service and technology providers in the Netherlands
and the Dutch association of waste processors. The Macedonian participants
will get a good insight in the possible ways of treatment and collection. The
7 participants will include Ministry staff as well as other stakeholders.
Workshop II: In depth workshop on biowaste
management
During a second workshop in Skopje,
the draft handbook will be discussed and additional attention will be paid to
technical, financial and economic aspects of the biowaste management chain.
Based on the input from beneficiaries and stakeholders, the handbook will be
completed.
Biowaste seminar
During a final seminar, the results of the project will be presented and
discussed with a large group of stakeholders. This conference is particularly
aimed at the dissemination of the results of the project by means of the
presentation of (the draft version of) the handbook.
