The European Commission is looking for innovative women

The European Commission (EC) is looking for female entrepreneurs who have achieved and marketed a remarkable innovation. The competition 'EU Prize for Women Innovators' wants to reward innovative women with prices from € 25,000, € 50,000 and € 100,000. You can register until September 20, 2011, 17:00.

More and more women are active in the research sector. But there are still too few women who start innovative companies. Europe must be able to call on all its inhabitants to remain competitive and to find solutions to the major challenges we face (such as health care, climate change, efficiency in energy and resources).

More female entrepreneurs
The idea behind the prize is to raise awareness of the crucial role innovation plays in modern life and highlight valuable contributions from women researchers. The Commission hopes that recognising the work of female entrepreneurs will inspire other women to follow suit.

Award
The EU Prize for Women Innovators will be awarded to three women entrepreneurs, who were at some point during their careers beneficiaries of funding for projects under the RTD Framework Programme (FP) or the Competitive and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).

The award ceremony will take place on 5 December 2011 at the Innovation Convention organised by the European Commission in Brussels.
A High Level Jury comprising independent experts will be in charge of assessing the quality of the applications for
the ‘Prize for Women Innovators’ in line with the rules of the contest.
