Progress and Results Global Sustainable Biomass Fund 2011

This January the fourth factsheet of the Global Sustainable Biomass Fund was published. This half-yearly factsheets provide a regular update on the progress and results of the projects in the Global Sustainable Biomass Fund to enhance the insight of all stakeholders into the sustainable production of biomass.

The tenders of the Global Sustainable Biomass Fund are now completed. In total, 26 projects were accepted and a total amount of 12.5 million Euros was granted. An overview of the projects supported by the Global Sustainable Biomass Fund is presented in this factsheet.

Progress in 2011
The Global Sustainable Biomass Fund is progressing well. Local communities are becoming increasingly involved and are taking a real interest in sustainability and certification. In many of these projects specific research has been carried out to determine the most suitable feedstock for biofuel production. All of this is contributing to the expertise that is needed to set up sustainable biomass chains.

Algen Sustainables project in Vietnam
This factsheet sums up the most important results of the past months. The Algen Sustainables project in Vietnam (which combines shellfish and macro-algae aquaculture) is highlighted, with detailed information about the approach that was adopted and the results that were achieved.
