Summary

This report contains the technical specifications for the greenhouse gas calculator for biofuels. The calculator was developed by Ecofys and CE, though the project was commissioned by SenterNovem. The Excel-based calculator enables users to determine the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, on a well-to-wheel basis, for several biofuels produced from different feedstocks. The calculator is based on the rules for calculating the greenhouse gas impact of biofuels, which were set by the European Commission as part of the Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC).
