Germany, the UK and other European countries are almost exclusively dependent on the import of strategically important metals and rare earths for their technology sectors. As glabal demand of stategic elements increases, these countries become vulnerable to shortfalls in supply.

This workshop will offer a platform to explore emerging technologies that help reduce reliance on scarce materials imports. Development of alternative technologies and sustainable approaches to design and materials use, remains a long-term strategy that will require continued research investment to develop viable alternatives, as well as reviewing the implications involved with substitution in industry.
